In 895 A.D., young Prince Amleth witnesses his uncle, Fjölnir, murder his father, King Aurvandill War-Raven. He escapes by boat, chanting a vow that will define his entire life: "I will avenge you, Father. I will save you, Mother. I will kill you, Fjölnir".
Learning that Fjölnir lost his kingdom and now lives as a humble farmer in Iceland, Amleth disguises himself as a slave to infiltrate his uncle's farmstead.
