Unlike ZIP, 7z can treat multiple small files as a single continuous data stream. This allows the algorithm to find redundancies across different files, which is particularly effective for game ROM sets or software source code where many files share similar data patterns. SS04.7z

This is the default "lossless" method used in 7z files. It provides a significantly higher compression ratio (30–70% better than standard ZIP) by using an improved version of the LZ77 algorithm with range coding. Theoretically supports archives up to (16 billion GB)
