The episode begins with the study group in exile, two months after being expelled from Greendale Community College. The narrative engine is triggered when Abed, convinced that Dean Pelton has been replaced by a "doppel-deaner," is forced into psychiatric treatment. Dr. Heidi’s central gambit—convincing the group that Greendale was never a school, but actually an asylum where they have lived through a shared psychosis—provides the episode’s most profound meta-commentary. By framing the show's increasingly absurd adventures (like the campus-wide paintball wars) as the delusions of "crazy people jail," the episode directly addresses the audience’s suspension of disbelief. This project will be led by Dr. Tanja Roembke. The Co-Pi will be Prof. Dr. Iring Koch. The project title is “Bilingual flexibility: The impact of dispositional and situational language balance on bilinguals' word learning of a third language”. The goal of the project is to better understand the cognitive mechanisms underlying bilinguals' ability to learn flexibly via their first or their second language.
