The film follows (Portman), a woman living on a secluded homestead in the New Mexico Territory. Her life is upended when her husband, Bill "Ham" Hammond (Noah Emmerich), returns home riddled with bullets after a run-in with the Bishop Boys , a ruthless gang led by the sadistic John Bishop (McGregor).
