I’m a digital archivist, so my first instinct was curiosity, not caution. I right-clicked and hit "Extract Here." The progress bar didn't show file names, just a series of dates and timestamps spanning the last forty-eight hours. When the folder opened, it contained only three things: A text file named README_FIRST.txt . A low-resolution photo titled 03_22_AM.jpg . An executable file simply named RUN.exe . The Warning Intruder.rar
My skin went cold. I looked at the photo. It was a grainy, night-vision shot of a bedroom. It took me a full minute to realize I was looking at from the perspective of the ceiling fan. In the photo, I was asleep. But there was a shadow standing by the closet—a tall, distorted figure with limbs that seemed to glitch out of focus. The Breach Against every ounce of common sense, I clicked RUN.exe . It appeared on my desktop at 3:14 AM
