The wide end should be on your right and the small end on your left. Position the wide end so it hangs much lower (about 12–15 inches below the narrow end) [1].

Stand in front of a mirror, pop your collar, and button your top button. Drape the tie around your neck.

This classic, slightly asymmetrical knot works best with standard-width ties and pairs well with most collar types.

While tightening, press your index finger just below the knot to create a "dimple" for a more professional look.
