The plot kicks off when Major Vic Deakins (Travolta) intentionally crashes a B-3 Stealth Bomber during a top-secret exercise to steal its nuclear payload. After ejecting his co-pilot, Captain Riley Hale (Slater), Deakins reports a "Broken Arrow"—the military code for an accident involving nuclear weapons—while secretly planning to sell them to terrorists. Hale survives the ejection and teams up with park ranger Terry Carmichael to track Deakins through the Utah canyons and stop the detonation.
