The story follows Hayato, an ordinary young man who wakes up with amnesia in the town of Lightshire. He quickly discovers he has been transported to a world that operates strictly on video game logic, complete with skill points, inventory systems, and "fetch quests". However, unlike the games he knows, death in this world is permanent. Alongside a mage named Shiori, Hayato must investigate a series of deadly monster attacks threatening the town.
