The story begins in 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia, where and Elliot Salem serve alongside their commanding officer, Phillip Clyde. Their mission is to assassinate a local warlord, but the operation takes a dark turn when Clyde’s questionable tactics lead to civilian casualties. Despite the chaos, Rios and Salem demonstrate an uncanny ability to work as a synchronized unit, catching the eye of Ernest Stockwell , the CEO of SSC. Stockwell recruits them into the world of private military contracting, promising wealth and the freedom to operate outside the bureaucracy of the U.S. Military.
